Meme: Five Things I Want To Write

Okay, I'm starting a meme of my own, sorta. I'm tagging anyone and everyone that reads that. Of course it is primarily aimed towards fellow writers, but oh well :P. So it is a requirement that everyone who reads this does it. Mwahaha. Okay, not really, but still.

So here is how it works.
1) Write about the top five writing projects you want to do. Books, short stories, whatever.
2) Post the rules and the link to where you got the Meme from in the first place.
3) Tag people.

Here is mine:

1) Finish WISB, the second book, and third book, and potentially any books that might follow. I'm shooting to finish this in at most three books. If I can do it in two, sweet. And of course I would loooooove to go on for many more books.
2) Write an epic science fiction space opera novel. Not Star Wars epic, but just, well, epic. More politically based space opera. I don't have an idea as of right now. I just want to write one.
3) Write an amazing trilogy of zombie novels that attempts to take a new spin on the genre. I have been wanting to write a zombie novel for the longest time. The problem is in being original in a field that has been bastardized and humiliated by garbage and by legitimately hilarious spoof films (Shaun of the Dead or Biozombie anyone?). That's a dilemma I'm still having. I can't write something I know has already been written. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are possibly the only films to make any revolutionary changes to the traditional feel of zombie films, and unfortunately even that is being bastardized by cheap rip-off's and remakes. In the end, if I ever write such a trilogy, I want to turn them into screenplays and start the biggest budget horror film series ever. And Peter Jackson will direct them...in my dreams at least.
4) Finish writing all my short stories that are sitting around in my story bank. Europa Strain, Artemis, Soul For Sale. Then get them published. It's a lot of work :S.
5) Write a PhD. dissertation on something related to dystopian literature. I'm not sure what though. Perhaps a study in the trends and the evolution of the genre as a whole.

So, ha! You've all been tagged!

"So, ha! You've all been tagged!"

Not in your life!! :D I just finished the last thing you tagged me with, and then I come here and find this. No, noooooooooo way! Not this time. Ahem.

That's a lot more projects than I thought one person could handle at once! You're amazing. I agree with the zombie cliche thing. It's one reason why I shy away from such stories. But if you ever get a fresh one published, it sounds like it will be worth reading.

You know, actually, this meme is neat. I'll do it, although it's meme overload ATM.

  3. Woah woah. I'm not taking on all these projects at once lol. Not even close silly. That would be crazy. I don't have time for much more than short stories and one single novel (in this case WISB).

I've got some ideas cooking in my head about the zombie idea. I've been considering merging concepts from a novella I've yet to finish that would at least provide a semi-original concept I think.

That was sneaky! But it's a cool meme, so I did it already. :D

Looking back, I'm not sure why I said they were all at once. *Feels stupid* I guess my idiot brain confused it with the word meter bars on your blog's main page, somehow.

Better yet, why not merge concepts from *more* than one novella/novel? :D

  6. Well, I could merge more than one, but right now I only have two concepts. I've written some stuff down about it. Not story, just basic ideas of what will go on. I might start writing a little bit on it over the weekend, but I doubt it. I've got two short stories I need to finish in June so I can send them out. And two for July and one for August :S. We'll see!

  7. Sounds like fun and a lot of hard work to be done. You might have something here. I'll do it later and promise to get back to you if I do.

  8. Okay :P I took the challenge & posted. Oh my goodness as I'm not a true writer in the sense of being published. Then again if I actually come up with a short kids book, that would be fun & interesting within my life. All well ... thankx for the read and post as it's good to have our goals. Best of luck!

  9. Yes, yes zombies! So much potential, so much trash to compete with. Good luck with it, and the rest of the projects too :)
